Praise for Steppin' Out To The Blues:
"The album features eleven juicy tracks, six of which were crafted by Mike himself. From the early acoustic feel of The Weary Blues and the instrumental, Sliding Out which sees Mike playing a Dobro, to the funky feel of Bo Carter's Tellin' You 'Bout It, the album is testament to the band's ability to boogie 'n' groove." |

Mike Garner has a long musical history as an expatriate Brit, having worked in both acoustic blues and electric blues acts in the UK. He has supported British acts such as Jo Ann Kelly, Tony McPhee and the Groundhogs and Chicken Shack, as well as visiting Americans, such as Carey Bell. Mike is adept at pre-war style acoustic blues guitar, harmonica and vocals.
Paul started playing guitar at the age of five and has clocked up many years of stage experience, performing professionally since he was fifteen! No wonder, then, his lead guitar stylings range across the spectrum of blues - a truly awesome talent!
Previously, while working as "The Blues Healers", Mike and Paul have played a great many festivals in New Zealand, from Gisborne, to Raglan's "Strawberry Fields", to Auckland's "Guinness Blues Festival" as well as many pub and club dates around the North Island. They visited Melbourne in 1995, playing live-to-air on several radio stations. 1999 has seen the Steppin' Out To The Blues appearing at Jazz and Blues Festivals, such as The Bay of Islands and Whangarei.
1999 was the year of the CD project and with the assistance of prominent local musos - Neil Reynolds (ex Dragon), Liam Ryan (ex the Narcs) and Minnamotu (ex Australian bands such as - The Tribe, Blah Blah Blah, MX warheads, Kooriwadjula, McFly and Breed), the CD took shape.
