Announcing a new venue for Live Music Concerts
PRESS RELEASE] 27 October 2005 - Settled just over an hour North of downtown Auckland, the friendly rural village of Matakana lays quietly amongst the local boutique vineyards, cafés and craft shops. The area is renown for its quality home stay B&Bs, organic farmers market and award winning potteries.
One particular property has a natural amphitheatre, high in the hills, surrounded by native bush and enjoying panoramic views. Property owner, concert production manager and sound engineer, Nigel Rowthorn, has been planning a special project here for many years, with the support of the local wineries, restaurants, business community and residents.
Nigel has spent his life in the entertainment industry, working with major artists such as Bob Dylan, Elton John, Dire Straits, George Benson, Stevie Wonder, Cliff Richard, Paul McCartney, The Eagles, Beach Boys,, Bob Marley, Rod Stewart, Queen, Lionel Richie, Elvis Costello, Village People, Harry Belafonte, & INXS, to name but a few.
So now, three times a year, the quiet surroundings of the small village of Matakana will come alive with a unique music festival, featuring local wines, ales and food delicacies. Showcasing the very best of NZ's musicians with state of art sound and lighting.
