Auckland's 7-day music bar - dates for February and March
Auckland's Java Jive is currently growing under the guidance of its new owners, Dianna and Neil Edwards. The restaurant is back in operation and all reports say the food is great!
While they are putting the emphasis on quality local R&B, Blues and roots music, the Java has a few international acts coming through soon, too.
From Canada, comes "Captain Tractor", touring with New Zealand band, "Hobnail Boots". The "Bots" met up with the "Tractor" while playing recently in Canada, it seems and the Canadians liked their Kiwi blend of Celtic flavoured electric folk. Coming to the Java Jive on Sunday 27 Feb, Dianna says to expect "a night of Celtic madness" - $10 at the door gets you in.
Of interest to blues fans is another return home for Kiwi blues piano player, Jan Preston. She's been making lots of festival appearances in her adopted home across the Tasman, and brings with her one of Australia's best harp blowers, Jim Conway, of the "Backsliders". Jan's second CD is out now - and it's a good 'un - you can get it at her Auckland gig - at the Java on Sat 18th March.
