Susan Tedeschi Grammy Nomination for "Best New Artist"

and her debut album, after two years of touring, nears gold certification

Susan Tedeschi Grammy Nomination for "Best New Artist"
BOSTON, Mass. - PRESS RELEASE - Susan Tedeschi was today nominated for a Grammy Award for "Best New Artist," it was announced by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS.) Tedeschi, whose 'Just Won't Burn' album (Tone Cool/Island Def Jam), has earned her a rare combination of critical acclaim, airplay and national television, has toured extensively for two years in support of the album.

The "Best New Artist" category is widely regarded throughout the recording industry as a bellwether of tomorrow's biggest recording stars.

According to Susan, "I'm in shock. I'm thrilled. I want to thank all my fans, the press and radio for their support. It's because of them that it's possible for people to know who I am and to hear my music. I am honored to be a Grammy nominee for Best New Artist."

With the release of her national debut CD nearly two years ago, "Just Won't Burn" on Tone-Cool Records (distributed by Island Def Jam), Susan's profile has grown steadily: She's had Top 15 Triple A radio hits with "It Hurt So Bad," and "Rock Me Right"; has toured with John Mellencamp, Bob Dylan, the Allman Brothers, B.B. King, Phil Lesh and Lillith Faire; performed on "The Late Show With David Letterman, "Late Night With Conan O'Brien," CMT, and TNN; graced the covers of Billboard, Album Network, Pollstar and Blues Revue magazines; and has registered one of the top selling albums in the country. Susan's from-the-heart vocals and stinging guitar work combined with her charismatic stage presence and electrifying live performances, have caused listeners and critics nationwide to take notice. Billboard editor Timothy White has called her "the hottest new act of 1999." She appeared on VH1's "The Concert Of The Century for VH1 Save The Music," taped at the White House. As she awaits the results of the Grammy nomination in the February 23 Grammy Awards telecast, Susan will begin pre-production on her follow-up album, projected for release in fall of 2000.
