Auckland's 7 Day Live Music Bar Gets A Re-Launch
Auckland's famous music bar, the Java Jive, has new owners. Jan Breukers has sold the bar to the city's well known musical partnership of Dianna and Neil Edwards.
With Dianna's experience as proprietor of Rock It Promotions and Neil's experience and credibility as one of NZ's better know musicians, the pair bring lots of enthusiasm and promise to the venue.
"Our main aim is to lower the drink prices, remove the door charge except for special gigs (eg overseas bands, CD launches, benefit concerts, showbands, etc), to increase the pay for musicians and to generally make the bar muso-friendly."
They plan to have "musos' club" - purchase a $20 key ring/identity and get permanent discount at the bar!
The re-launch includes changing the whole musical orientation of the venue - and booking a raft of new acts from this month. Ignore any printed gig guides in the press this week - all existing bookings have been cancelled!
What's new?
Monday 19th November - Jam night from 9pm, with Neil Edwards (gtr), Paul Woolright (bs) and Rick Cotter (dms).
Also coming up - the Auckland launch of Steppin' Out's new CD - "Steppin' Out To The Blues", on Saturday 27 November. The band were on TV One's "Good Morning Show", recently. Band leader Mike Garner is well know as the former show host of the Rock Network's Blues Show from '93 -'99 and son, Paul, is the not-to-be-missed lead guitarist. Says Dianna;
"What a hot shot guitarist young Paul is - an awesome talent and well worth hearing.
Also promised is getting the kitchen and food part of the business running again - a new coffee machine and a music industry launch….
