Paihia Jazz and Blues Festival 1999

The Bay of Islands hosts its annual blues and jazz extravaganza this weekend, 13, 14 and 15 August.

The tiny Bay of Islands holiday town will be bursting at the seams this weekend, when an expected 18,000 visitors flock to NZ's picturesque waterfront for a winter treat of the best in Kiwi jazz and blues.

Spread across several venues, the live music runs from 7pm on Friday to midnight on the Sunday. The venues are;
Harurur Falls resort, Odeon Café, Copthorne Resort, The Duke of Marlborough, The Park Lodge, Paihia Pacific Resort and Twin Pines. In addition, there are Fullers Jazz Cruises and, of course, the Jazz Train from Kawakawa Township.

Among the Kiwi blues contingent are Kokomo, Stepping Out, The Delta Swing, Red Wilson, Ronnie Taylor and The Alibis.
