Popular Taranaki Venue Re-opens

Kaponga gets back in action on 22 May

Underneath the mountain, Kaponga Backgammon Club may have an unlikely name for a music venue - and they DO play Backgammon there! - but they have established a fine reputation as a regional music venue. Most of NZ's big names have played there, as have a number of overseas acts.

Though not a blues venue, they like their blues and it is a favourite stop for NZ's blues acts.

Earlier this year they were forced to close, in order to carry out renovations to meet fire and safety regulations. Now they're back - safer! - and have their first show planned for Saturday 22 May.

The liquor license application is still coming along, but Kaponga is having music withdrawal symptoms, so the club presents…

A BYO Wine and Cheese Party!

Featuring

PAUL URBANA JONES

WAYNE MASON

And

HAMMOND GAMBLE

**** 3 of NZ's top musicians. Paul Urbana Jones toured with Keb' Mo' recently and Hammond Gamble accompanied Joe Cocker on a 16 date tour in '98. Wayne Mason needs no introduction - a key component of The Warratahs.

Saturday 22 May - $10 in advance - $15 door sales
